MENOMONEE
VALLEY TOUR HIKE and EAT
What do fishing, baseball and pizza have in common? Come discover on a new GAMMA adventure, a hike and guided tour of Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley with urban geographer Gerry O. In the last ten years, there has been a remarkable resurgence of economic activity and river restoration in this long neglected industrial area. We can lunch at the valley’s new pizzeria Palermo’s. Each participant will have the option of a shorter one-hour hike or a longer excursion.

This event requires about 125 volunteers to handle the various logistics of the day.. Volunteers are needed to help set-up the grounds and route, to register walkers and volunteers, to help serve a continental breakfast, to monitor the kids play area, to monitor the route for safety and to cheer on the walkers. The typical volunteer job requires about 3-4 hours of time. Most jobs allow you to also participate as a walker if desired. It is really a fun and high energy day and your volunteering really makes a difference. If you are interested in helping, please contact Cliff H., Volunteer Coordinator. quite over until we share each other’s company at the Annual Corn Roast.
Come join us at Kletsch Park for games, cards, volleyball, or
just sitting around enjoying each other’s company.
The festivities begin at 2 pm with dinner at 4 pm.
So don’t miss out on one of our most popular events. GLACIAL DRUMLIN TRAIL We will meet at
Richard & Ken’s place (Spirit Hill) and head to the Glacial Drumlin
trail from there. The plan is to ride west a spell and then head back
with a stop at LeDuc’s in Wales for frozen custard on the return trip.
This will be about 8-10 miles each way depending on how much oomph the
group has. The Glacial Drumlin trail is a paved trail with only moderate
inclines and mixed shade & sun. A trail pass is
required to ride this trail and can be purchased as a day pass ($4) or
annual pass ($20). Please visit
www.glacialdrumlin.com for more information on the trail or where to
buy a pass. It is recommended that you purchase the pass ahead of time,
as the rangers charge an additional $5 if you buy it from them. BOWLING ANYONE?
